The Hullabaloo! Challenge

All week long, Troops will compete for Hullabaloo points as part of the Hullabaloo Challenge. Area Directors will give out points to Troops which participate in area challenges and camp-wide events, show scout spirit, and take on service projects.

Additionally, each lunch Troops have the chance to earn 1000 points during the Hullabaloo! In this long-standing Camp Meriwether tradition, each lunch the whole camp sings the Hullabaloo while Troops take turns singing their campsite’s verse. When you arrive, your ranger will teach you your verse (see below for the whole song, and verses). Throughout the week, each campsite will have a chance to sing their verse, and the loudest campsite will win 1000 hullabaloo points!

Points will be tallied throughout the week, and on Friday Troops will be able to use their Hullabaloo points in a camp-wide vote to decide which camp staff members have to jump in the lake while wearing their full field uniforms.

Campfires

The Meriwether staff will lead an opening campfire on Sunday evening and a closing campfire on Friday evening.

Wednesday’s inter-Troop campfire is put on by your scouts. To have a skit, song, or other performance included in the campfire, please speak to the Stagecraft Director.

Troops may also invite other Troops, campsites, or staff members to their own campfires throughout the week.

Order of the Arrow

Thursday is OA Day at Camp Meriwether. All Order of the Arrow members are invited to wear their OA sash all day.

Additionally, all OA members are invited to a special crackerbarrel on Monday evening. During this event, they’ll have the chance to meet other members from around the country, share ideas, and learn about how to get more involved in the Order.

Members of our local lodge, Wauna-La-Mon’tay Lodge, can complete their Brotherhood while at camp. The requirements include: performing a supervised service project led by our OA staff liaison, having at least six months’ time as an Ordeal member, and being a current dues-paid lodge member. OA members from other lodge are generally unable to complete their Brotherhood in other councils, but exceptions can occasionally be arranged by talking to your home lodge’s Lodge Advisor.
