Special Needs

The Cascade Pacific Council will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your special needs.  It is the responsibility of parents and/or adults attending to make sure the person has everything they need for the time of the activity. Each camp strives to offer a positive camp experience for each youth and adult. Please be specific and indicate on the registration any special needs that you feel the camp staff should know about before your arrival at camp.

Participants who have a special need or dietary restriction should indicate this on their registration at least Two Weeks prior to your arrival.

Health & Medicals

Come to camp healthy, have a plan if someone becomes ill at camp.

BSA Medical Form

Use the BSA Medical Form, and fill out all both parts (Part A, B) for all persons. Part C is the physical exam and is required for anyone staying 72 hours or longer. Butte Creek’s program runs under 72 hours, so part C is not necessary for this Camp, unless you are staffing.

The form can be found at https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/

Program

Program at Butte Creek

New for 2025 at Butte Creek: Scouts will be assigned to rank-based Frontier Groups for activity rotations. This change allows each activity area to provide experiences tailored to the Scouts' age and rank, offering a more customized experience. Previously, activity rotations were organized by campsite, not by rank.

Campfires

Wood burning campfires are usually not allowed during the summer camp season. Instead, each campsite will have a propane fire pit available for use.

Fire conditions may change at any moment so make sure to be prepared. Propane stoves and propane fire pits are allowed.

Mail Service and Pony Express

To mail letters or packages to Scouts at camp, please address as follows:

Scout Name / Unit Number / Session Dates (e.g., July 5-8) Butte Creek Scout Ranch 13462 S Butte Creek Rd. Scotts Mills, OR 97375

We advise using UPS or FedEx, as USPS may deliver packages to a separate location that could delay delivery.

📩 Be sure to mail the week ahead with enough time for it to arrive while your Scouts are in camp. Any mail received after your departure will be returned to sender through the Post Office.

Please include unit number with any mail you send.

Incoming mail is sorted by unit and campsite.

In 2025, the Pony Express will only make two deliveries per session, instead of twice daily as in previous years. Please keep this in mind when sending items, as there will be only two opportunities for delivery.

What you Should Bring

You set the example for your Cubs! Please make sure that you carry the 6 essentials in a day pack and ask that they do, too!

Make sure that you pack that first aid kit. We also recommend tweezers and nail clippers. (Slivers happen at camp and you don’t want to wait for the medic for something simple.) Also, our medic is not able to provide over the counter pain medications or tummy medicine. We recommend that you bring your preferred pain meds (adult and child) as well as Tums!

Don’t forget the sun protection, whistle, flashlight, trail food, and reusable water bottle!

While you’re at it, bring a reusable hot drink cup also.

<aside> 💡 Protecting Our Youth Current BSA Youth Protection Training is strongly recommended for all adults attending camp. It is required for your pack leaders. Knowing and using these basic practices keeps our Scouts safe and places barriers for those with ill intent
